To effectively use this search engine (because we used French accents when composing this web site), you must include the proper French spelling for words. Hence, if you are searching for "Jette" you must use its French spelling, "Jetté." To make this job easier, we have included a list of accented letters above that are most commonly used in the French language. To insert one of the accented letters in the search box, just highlight the letter and drag it into the search box. The accent size will appear smaller than the remainder of the text, but this does not affect the search capability.
More is less and less is more. If searching for a specific string of words such as Ste Agnes de Dundee, it is better to search for "Agnès" and "Dundee" because the search engine will find all instances of either Agnès and/or Dundee. If you search for "Sainte Agnes de Dundee" the search engine will return no matches for 2 reasons: 1) we have used Ste for Sainte and we have used the French spelling of Agnes (Agnès). Try to use as few specific words as possible and your searching will be more effective.
If searching for a French locality, town or parish use the words "St" and "Ste" instead of "Saint" or "Sainte". e.g. "Ste Scholastique" instead of "Sainte Scholastique"
If searching for a non-French locality or parish use "Saint." e.g. "Saint Patrick's" instead of "St Patrick's"
